Art Journeys With One Step Beyond

“Your journey is our mission” is the motto of One Step Beyond Inc. The organization, with locations in Arizona and California, work to create vital programming and opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The mission of One Step Beyond is to help these individuals and their families achieve their goals and become participating members in their community. This is accomplished by offering several educational opportunities and classes, including employment services, life skills, culinary training, and art workshops.

Through a partnership with Dragonfly Community Arts and Art Bias in San Carlos, CA, One Step Beyond clients are provided with free, weekly arts workshops. Art Bias artists provide art journeys that allow participants to express themselves and their emotions in a safe and nurturing environment. The artists offer a wide variety of art disciplines, and over the years, One Step participants have taken part in everything from mosaics to sculpting, bookmaking, painting, crafting, and much more. In March 2025, One Step Beyond students held their first gallery show at Art Bias. Students and their families were invited to showcase their work and celebrate their artistic journey. The classes are not just a benefit to One Step Beyond members, but also Art Bias instructors who have found the weekly classes to be exciting and rewarding.

Dragonfly is proud to continue its support of One Step Beyond and provide the funding that makes these artistic journeys possible.
